I really liked the quote in 27.04.2021. I struggle with this a a lot whenever I share something with people. And when I express I wasn't looking for advice, they get angry and ask "Then what am I supposed to do?" This happens with people who works as a listener, which is just frustrating. And I have totally stopped sharing my pain in the insight timer, because whenever I share, people would come running saying, "do this, don't do that. Do that meditation". I don't know what is up with these people, as fellow warriors who claim to have overcome a lot, they're supposed to know what people require when they share pain.

My experience with gaslighting is believing there's something wrong with me for feeling certain feelings, I don't have a right to feel hurt/neglected. My mom reminds me of the list of things she did right but there's no acknowledgement of how her words and actions make me feel. I used to feel guilty for having these thoughts of not being loved enough etc., I would be told I'm too sensitive & I need to be more appreciative. In my opinion she favours my brother & his tears are painful for her but when I cried it wasn't a big deal. She says I cry over "small things". (I was so hurt by this) I don't think she's a narc but she's def highly unaware and it's the only way she knows how to parent. I'm working on accepting this reality and reparenting myself. :) Thank You <3

gerade wollte ich Eure Gruppe bei Insight Timer aufrufen, um zu sehen, was sich bezgl. der drohenden Löschung der Gruppen ergeben hat, und - Ihr seid nicht mehr da!!!

Gestern Abend noch habe ich den Kommentar von Christopher (CEO) dort gelesen, der versicherte, dass eine Löschung der Gruppen nicht geplant sei, - und nun das!

Ich bin echt fassungslos.
Das tut mir wahnsinnig leid, für alle Mitglieder dieser Gruppe (einschl. meiner Person), aber auch und vor allem für Euch, die Ihr so viel Arbeit, Mühe und Herzblut in diese Gruppe gesteckt habt.

Ich bin froh und dankbar, dass ich Euch und Eure wertvolle Arbeit hier noch finden kann.
Trotzdem werde ich die Gruppe auf IT sehr vermissen.
Ein Teil von mir fühlt sich, als ob er mitsamt Eurer Gruppe vom IT rausgeschmissen worden ist.
Das fühlt sich überhaupt nicht gut an (wie müsst Ihr Euch da erst fühlen...).

I love today's quote (13th of August)!! Some of those 5 steps are quite hard! "Disconnection" from self is the perfect word for how I feel, not only with my self, but with everyone. "We are children performing in adult bodies" - when I look back at my life, I can see how I was like a child seeking the approval of other adults! I also had severe social anxiety... I still have it. Learning to trust myself. It has been a difficult journey... I don't have memory of me having self worth and being carefree. Lots of healing to be done :) I love how Nicole LePera has explained it so well! Love the mantra "when I make a promise to myself, I keep it." Thank you <3<3<3

Dear Verena and Alex
I thought I’d share something on your insight timer group but realised I couldn’t which has led me to be here. Thank you so much for your group and website. So many souls it must have helped and guided. This is just a short story after doing a guided meditation From Kenneth Soares. This is what I wrote to Kenneth: Amazing Kenneth, before I got into regular meditation I fell into one late at night. I could see my self sat around a camp fire with my soul brothers, it was the night before we were to go hunting. This vision was absolutely real and this was a serious moment for us as survival depended on its success. I was in a trance but not asleep. Later I asked where am I? Which country? the answer was Norway (I’m from England presently). It was very profound. I didn’t think about this until a few years later (last year). A friend gave me a DNA test which I did and the results came back 6 weeks later. My ancient dna is Norwegian, the following day I was due to go to Norway working! For the first time. No question that this was more than a coincidence. I am certain. Your meditation session brought this back to me. It’s a great realisation to know that we are all deeply connected on many levels. Thanks for sharing this especially as it seems to have come to you in the same way mine did. Woah!! Indeed. Onwards with lights shining brother ��
So I felt I had to share this with you, the work I was doing was as a conductor for an orchestra touring Europe and the biggest tour of my life which started with three dates in Norway. And what an absolutely beautiful country it is, I certainly felt very at home. The concerts were a success too. The fact we are all connected spiritually in many ways is of profound importance. Music to me is one of these connecting paths that ties us all on this Earthly plain (if we let it). Thanks for listening to my story. Love and light Martin

nach eurer heutigen Nachricht zur Corona-Pandemie, die mich sehr berührt hat, "muss" ich euch einfach mal wieder eine Rückmeldung geben. Das ist etwas, was ich viel zu selten mache, da mir das Formulieren auf Englisch recht schwer fällt.
Ich tue es daher jetzt einfach auf Deutsch:

Ich möchte euch gerne sagen, wie dankbar ich für eure täglichen Impulse, aber auch für eure Kommentare und Stellungnahmen bin, vor allem was der Umgang mit spiritual bypassing und dem Thema "Verzeihen" angeht.
Als ein Mensch mit "komplexen Traumafolgestörungen" zum einen und einer mehrjährigen Vergangenheit in einer "buddhistischen Gemeinschaft" zum anderen empfinde ich gerade eure gewählten Zitate und eure eigene klare Positionierung zu diesen Themen als ganz besonders wichtig und hilfreich.
Ich lese eure Posts jeden Tag fast als erstes (lange Zeit bei Insight Timer, nun auf eurer eigenen Seite).
Sie sind mir zu einem wichtigen Wegweiser, Gedankenanstoß geworden, noch viel mehr nun in den letzten Tagen, seitdem Corona so gravierende Auswirkungen auf unser aller Leben hat.
Eure Meditationen habe ich mir gleich nach "Erscheinen" runtergeladen und höre sie fast täglich, sie sind etwas ganz Besonderes. Danke, dass ihr sie zum Download freigegeben habt, so kann ich sie auch offline hören und "spare" Datenvolumen (im Sinne der Umwelt).

Ihr beiden leistet einen so wichtigen Beitrag für das Leben vieler Menschen , dafür ganz ganz herzlichen Dank.

But I'm learning. It's triggering a lot of shame. I just can't be the same robotic person I used to be. I'm realizing everything I ever did in my life was for survival. Like getting good grades. Maybe instead of saying the political comment "turned me off" I should of said I was "surprised" maybe that would have been more politically correct (HAHA humor). The best that I can put it is that your words speak to my heart, to the core of my authenticity. They are inspiring.
I like to write, as I do often on Insight Timer. When I feel the motivation, the words just naturally flow because their source in the moment is from the very core of my authentic heart/self.
The challenge is to live each day in accordance with my words. To the extent that I do so is the ultimate gift that I can give to myself and to the world.
I don't want to short sell myself. I am making good progress in not only learning who I truly am, the unique authentic "Art", but living in accordance with that authentic Self, day by day.
The question just arose "how would I describe my authentic self?". I shall answer that on Insight Timer.

For months it has been a morning ritual of mine to visit the daily quote before I get out of bed to start my day, and I was shocked to see the group not listed in my list of groups just now.

The first thing I did was search for the group, thinking that perhaps my membership was accidentally deleted. Upon discovering that the group was gone from the app altogether, I checked your website and found your post, which comforted me. I'm so appreciative that you posted this so that we'd all know what's going on!

Next, as you suggest, I will try contacting Insight Timer.

I am a big fan of you both and everything you stand for. I too share the same authentic, spiritual path as you do. I check in with the group daily, and was also shocked to see the group missing. I read your message on your website this morning and then emailed insight timer support myself. I just received a standard reply saying “they’ll get back to me once this has been fixed.”

I want you to know that even though I love the app, you have my full support if the group has been deleted, it would be totally unacceptable, underhand behaviour by insight timer.

your group and the thought-provoking and wise quotes have been a very much appreciated part of my daily meditation practice during the last year. It has been a very dark period in my life and your quotes have helped me through so many days. Thank you so much! You are wonderful people!
If the Insight Timer deleted the group without any message or explanation, I will cancel my membership and not use this app anymore, because I wouldn't want to meditate in such an atmosphere of pseudo-positivity, inauthenticity, and narrow-mindedness.
I really hope the group will be restored again.
It was the most nourishing part of this app.
But I think if they didn't tell you yet that it has been a technical problem, then the only explanation is that they have deleted it and don't have the balls to communicate openly about it.

After a long break I took the time to get caught up and figured out what happened. While I am so sad it came to this, I understand that you both are "only human" and not invincible to the toxicity and violence of the shamers, blames, and holders of bypassing. I feel sickened at the thought of how these suffering souls have harassed and stalked you and tried to poison the well of life and truth that you have provided for us. I have been so impressed with your tenderness and generosity in responding to me and acknowledging me. I felt I had found friends and home, but in an empowering way. Your guidance through these quotes resonated with the voice of others like Jeff Foster, and my own inner Child who has been trying to guide me all along by making me feel vaguely uncomfortable around that which sounds true but only distances us from our truth, the truth that cannot be inactivated by pretending it doesn't exist. You both have been mentors and guides to me, and I credit you with awakening me to the truth, which serves as the "drum head over my chakras", discerning, filtering, attenuating the distortions from the underlying wisdom. This has kept me from going under in a sea of guilt and repression, and from throwing the spiritual baby out with dirty bath water in a giant "fuck you" to spirituality altogether. Your message of authenticity is my north star and my gratitude and love toward you would be impossible to overstate. I hope somehow to keep in touch, if it is meant to be and, at the same time, I have deepest respect for your need for privacy and safety, and your courage to live your life together in integrity. I wish to thank you with all my heart for the service and time you give in helping others on their healing journeys and mine included, the time you give to putting up quotes on Insight Timer have helped me more than you can possibly now right now, some mornings when it has literally been an internal train wreck with pain, hurt, fear, desire, anger amongst so much more than can go on within my internal world on any given moment/day, your posts have been there and given me the strength and courage to continue getting on out of bed and showing up for myself or on some days to stay in bed and to comfort and nurture myself and in all of that to continue on the healing path from past trauma, childhood abuse, drug addiction, suicide attempts, the list of trauma is long and the magical thing is i'm healing from it all bit by bit and moment by moment & learning to be real and authentic in it "To be a real person" as you quoted yesterday.

I have remembered who I am in this also and that I am an elder soul who has a story to tell soon with the hope that others can learn and benefit from what they read or hear.

Thank you both. I read the response you directed me to and cried. For the authenticity,for the pain and hassle of being stalked and criticized, for the commitment to continued healing. I share these values and sometimes feel very alone on this path. I greatly relate and appreciate you sharing your simple lifestyle when not in the world.
I recently retired from 36 years as a medical provider, the last 30 in alcohol and drug abuse treatment work. My empathic nature was validated by patients. Now i do not have that source of validation, although the quiet and recovery from caregiver burnout working in a state run system is absolutely necessary for my own healing. I dance and compete in ballroom, also do not involve myself in social media platforms, and do not currently have a partner. I share all of this b/c i have found this group a source of companionship in a very real and meaningful way for me. I do silent meditation retreats with Jac OKeefe, my spiritual teacher/ friend of 10 years. I am renewed at these retreats, but since retiring can afford to go to only one per year.
Just feels good to be able to express my truth as it is currently, to both of you, and know it will be heard.
Much much love to you both. I honor our paths in this life and am grateful they have crossed, even if virtually. ���

I know that it took time and also energy to come to this conclusion about making the change in the insight timer group. I have been following your group on the app for a few years now, and in fact it is the only group I am part of. I left other groups because it was too much clutter. And sometimes I have taken my own breaks from the app, only to find a lovely abundance of wisdom waiting for me in your offerings.

It is not unnoticed here in the Midwestern US, where I sit in my living room watching the spring budding trees finally emerge, where I prepare for my day as a university professor. I just read Real Man and I Love You. Real man describes who I have been all along but in the last year have begun to fully realize again. I’m so sick of stupid cliches that insanity expects of men such as “real men don’t cry.” Any idea why that particular cliche has been put on us? Anyway, I am on my way to becoming real once again. I cry, I love passionately, I own my yes and my no. If you don’t like it that’s too bad! It has had a negative impact on my wife’s estimation of me but I’m not going back to insanity. For me, the tough guy cliche never resonated with me so I never followed that path, but I watched how time & time again my guy friends would be rewarded by women for having that kind of persona. Verena, Hello. It seems I joined the Rumi group on the day you chose to leave! From what you wrote today and from what others have written about you departure it is my loss to have missed your contribution there. On the other hand, can I loose what I never held? Interestingly I think yes I can. And, I feel others who don't know you at all will miss you and not know they miss you. My only other though is that combined, those who know you and miss you there and those who do not know you and miss you ought not to be put there. Who are you turning over the space you held there to? Are you not abdicating your position of influence to the ones who oppose your views? The light you hold up shines all around. I don't know, perhaps a good work of art would be suitable for the space of transformation or transcendence or self realization or unity consciousness. What is hat space we are there for? But, anyway, all images evoke some response in everyone who sees it. It is a world of contrasts.

Verena - I have been in Rumi group with you for two years on insight timer. Followed most recent exchange.

My field is community organizing and social change has been my focus for 25 years. Came to meditation 4 years ago and have come home to myself through this avenue. Have been so troubled by the meditation community ignoring the things going on around us. It hit me most after Ferguson murder of Freddie Grey...the continuation and acceleration of black lives lost.

A suggestion, what if there was a group started that shares Rumi but has clarity that these two worlds cannot be separated and that we must move from the Heart and into action? Have no idea what this looks like, but wanted to contact you both with a nudge to think about this and to thank you so much for your presence in my life through the Rumi group.

Your decision is a good one...awakening comes in many forms and speaking the truth from your heart the way you did is a most terrible and wonderful swift sword.
